The challenge
DNV was still using a system that required many manual actions: registrations, document checks, exam scheduling, and certificate processing were all handled differently and were time-consuming. Additionally, each type of certification scheme had its own system, while the organization wanted to move toward a scalable platform that could support multiple schemes, each with its own workflow. DNV sought a solution that was flexible, clear, and secure, while also providing room for further growth and integration with other systems.
The solution
To support DNV in a future-proof digital transformation, we developed a modular certification portal. The foundation: a headless architecture with Umbraco Cloud as CMS and Netlify for the frontend. This API-driven approach ensures security, scalability, and flexibility.
In one central environment, candidates can register, upload documents, take exams, schedule assessments, and download their certificates. Each certification scheme has its own workflow, which DNV can manage themselves and easily expand with new processes.
Thanks to features like automated reminders and built-in quality checks, the work of assessors and staff becomes more efficient and transparent. The result: a platform ready for today’s complexity—and tomorrow’s challenges.

The impact
Where DNV previously worked with separate systems, the organization now has one powerful platform integrating multiple complex processes. The time investment per certification has been drastically reduced, and error susceptibility has decreased. DNV now has more control over the process and the freedom to independently develop further.
Collaboration with DNV is iterative, with short lines of communication and based on concrete feedback from practice. This ensures the platform remains current and grows with DNV’s ambitions and market developments.
